Young Adults

CBDWA YAIG RECAP      

It has been my great blessing to spend the last four years working with the young adults under the leadership of the Consolidated Baptist District Women’s Auxiliary. This has truly been a team effort between the CBDWA board and the Young Adult Committee. 

Thank you, YA Committee members, Daphne Fain, Khristy Parks, Demita Stevenson, Isabelle Mack, Vache King, Sherry Jackson, Elma Zachary, Evelyn Moore, Renee Burns. You ladies “showed up and showed out” for the young adults with the main goal always to be sure we were God honoring in everything we did! Love you guys 

Thank you to former President Anna Allen Edwards who not only allowed us to think outside the box, but was right there with us in the trenches and cheered us on!

After Covid it was necessary to adjust what the YAIG event would look like going forward. The CBDWA board invited the young adults to a zoom meeting to find out what there needs were, what they wanted needed and expected from us and the church. From that meeting came the first YAIG event with young adult input. We found that due to Covid many were struggling with mental issues, health issues, social issues, financial issues and spiritual issues. The meeting was held Saturday November 20, 2021. There were experts at this meeting to address each issue the young adults presented. The young adults were able to speak openly and freely. We had vendors, an amazing meal and even activities for children! Each year God blessed this event. Along with the Annual YAIG event, we also had a special session with Dr. Micean Jonikan about the effects of drinking and drugs on our bodies and minds. We held a special voter registration meeting to emphasize the importance of voting, with John Johnson former regional NAACP President and former director of Kentucky Human Rights Commission. We offered prayer and conversation twice a month as an outlet. In June 2025 we had our first overnight YA retreat. It was held at AdventureServe Ministries in Wilmore KY. It was a weekend of good food, fun, fellowship, activities, conversation all faith based! At these events we were blessed and encouraged to have Moderators Reginald Davis and Rodney Bennett, Pastors Michael Zachary, Marland Fain and Robert Gates. 

As the torch has passed to Rev. Antonio Taste, Young Adult President, let’s welcome him and support him as this auxiliary starts a new journey!
